Blog Action Day 2008 Launch Update
August 15th, 2008 by
First, ya gotta watch this:
Blog Action Day 2008 Poverty from Blog Action Day on Vimeo.
Now then. Here’s what has kept me and the rest of the Blog Action Day 2008 team nearly sleepless over the past couple weeks:
1. Creating the Blog Action Day website all over again from scratch – new logo, new layout, new content, new everything.
2. Contacting all of Planet Earth and getting at least 15 of the Technorati top 100 blogs in the world to join our effort.
3. Managing several hundred incoming and outgoing emails as word spreads, Twitter users start to follow Blog Action Day, Facebook fans come out of the woodwork, 2007 BAD participants get launch emails, and Change.org and Kiva.org users find news.
4. Crafting a big press release to be issued via PRWeb.com about 7 hours from now.
5. Making the sweet video you just watched above.
6. There’s more, lots more, but when you’re sleepless you’re sometimes forgetful.
I just want to say two things:
1. Working with the great folks at Envato (the wizards behind the Blog Action Day curtain) totally rocks.
2. You – yes, YOU – need to join Blog Action Day this year and talk about – and actually DO something about – poverty on Wednesday, October 15, 2008.
Last year over 20,000 blogs participated. Can we hit 50 grand this year? How about 100 thousand? I’d love to see that.
Just thought you should know what’s been occupying me a lot of late.
I couldn’t think of a more “visionary blogging” project than Blog Action Day.
Any thoughts on the video? Any questions for me?
