Blog Marketing: Who is Your Target Audience?

June 5th, 2008 by Easton Ellsworth

Happy face

For whom is your blog?

Who writes the blog posts?

Who typically leaves comments?

Who’s the target reader? The target buyer?

Who your blog?

Who your blog matters more than what your blog. It’s bigger than when or where or how, too.

Let me rephrase it: Knowing why you’re blogging and who you’re blogging for is more fundamental than deciding anything else about your blog, including what to blog about.

When you’re birthing a blog, the why and who are the head and shoulders.

Concentrate first on why your blog and who your blog and the rest will emerge easily.

So … boy or girl? :)

Imagine all the bloggers

    • Easton,

I do agree that before you start blogging, it’s important to know WHO you’re blogging for. Oftentimes we can get caught up in me, me, me -although that’s ok if the blog is indeed about you – and we forget about the people that we’re serving.

    • Maria, you’re right. And you know what? It’s OKAY if your blog is about you. But let it be about somebody. For somebody. I try to write as if to one person. I can see her. (Sometimes it’s a him.) I want to talk to her. She’s my ideal reader. She’s who my blog.
